Most people have a mental picture of what they want their wedding to be like, big, small or destination. Some ladies also envisage and muse over what their wedding dresses would look like.
But before a wedding, there should be a proposal, and we got curious. Do people anticipate proposals as much as they do weddings? If they do, what are the mental pictures they have?
We asked 5 single ladies what their dream proposal is like and what outfits they would like to be wearing on that day. Here’s what they said;
1. Toluwanimi Ajisebiyawo
Toluwanimi Ajisebiyawo is a makeup artist and fashionista whose dream man is a pastor. She wants her dream wedding proposal in church surrounded by close friends. Here’s her dream look:
Stunning in red. Yeah! It has to be red. A knee-length red dress. I love my jewellery in silver so, I’ll love to go for silver studs, wristwatch and heels. For my hair, I’ll love a frontal Brazilian long wavy wig with a side parting. My makeup will be nude, with just gloss on my lips and no lashes, I will love to be as close to natural as much as possible.
If she was shocked into a wedding proposal and wasn’t dressed for it, Toluwanimi says with excitement:
I don’t mind my pictures taken whatsoever. Take it, baby, capture the priceless moment, freeze the time to last forever, honey!
2. Dolapo Ogunleye
A network marketer and fashion enthusiast Dolapo said about her dream wedding proposal:
Naturally, I am a conservative person, I don’t like drama as such. I’ll prefer a quiet proposal— just me and my man on a beach or some other private place. A conversation can lead to another and he can pop the question. People we both love and cherish could be in the background somewhere but having strangers look on can be unnerving so a private proposal it would be, please.
Dolapo goes on to talk about what her dream look is, she says:
My outfit might not be anything serious, perhaps a dress or an ankara jumpsuit with flats. I’ll have my wig on, a blunt cut, my nails, short and precise. I just want to be simple and comfortable in my own skin. I’m a very sharp girl so if he starts encouraging me to dress up I would sense he’s up to something. But if he doesn’t, I’ll be looking as natural as possible.
If she was shocked into a wedding proposal and wasn’t dressed for it, Dolapo believes that:
It is a beautiful thing for things to happen naturally, so if I’m not properly dressed the way I want it, it’s fine. Since it’s real and beautiful, I don’t mind taking pictures in that state. So if I’m dressed up, it’s fine and if I’m not, it’s perfect too.
3. Regina Johnson
Regina, a 400 level student in the tertiary institution wants her proposal on a Sunday after church. She believes a relationship with the promise of marriage should never be an overly private affair. About what she would look like, she says:
I would so love to have on a beautiful tan top with sneakers. My hair will be neat and well braided, and my outfit will be matched with a simple handbag. I like my comfort no matter the occasion. My nails will be fixed or painted, they have to look good for the pictures.
If I was shocked into a proposal, I’m accepting the ring in whatever look I’m in and I’ll be taking pictures right away!
4. Adebamibola Fadekemi
A fashion enthusiast, Adebamibola says:
Whatever day or time it is, I would be wearing heels. I’ll have a dress on, a short beautiful gown
I would love to be surprised – a photographer should be capturing the moment low-key.
I don’t want anything loud so I’ll love serene scenery. A well-decorated room, cakes and chocolates and all calm and sweet-smelling in case we would turn it to a prayer meeting.
5. Niniola
About her dream wedding proposal look, Niniola, a shoemaker and dealer, says:
It’s funny how I have never thought about this. I should have on a really nice top with trousers, preferably anything other than jeans. My nails and hair would definitely be really sleek.
For the setting and format of the proposal, Niniola is quite specific;
I would love an exquisite proposal. A well-decorated room with club lights, buffets. My man can walk me into the room and act like he wants to go get something. He’ll then switch on the normal lights for me to see all the ribbons and friends hiding. He should never put the ring in juice, I’ll probably swallow it in a gulp.”
Very interesting proposals to imagine. It is certainly obvious that your fashion preference plays a major role in little and important events that happen in your life. I, as a lover of art, would love to see a wedding proposal in an art gallery. Instead of a ring, a bracelet could do the loving.
