There is always a reason for everything we do as humans, from something as basic as deciding what to have for dinner to something as complex as starting a business.
The range of reasons people have for starting their fashion business differs from person to person. While some started their fashion business to provide an extra source of income for them, some started theirs to solve a problem in the society.
The ROTATE Birger Christensen label is a Copenhagen based fashion brand which was founded by Danish stylists and social media influencers, Jeanette Friis Madsen and Thora Valdimars. It was born out of a desire of the founders to have feminine and luxurious outfits that come at an affordable price.
ROTATE stands for: React, Optimism, Tolerance, Acceptance,Together, Equality.

Both women were working in the fashion industry and always had one event or the other to attend but with their monthly salaries, they could not afford to buy new outfits, “dresses were either too expensive or weren’t fabulous enough”, for each event.
Sometimes it takes a simple idea like creating affordable yet extravagant party-appropriate dresses to disrupt the fashion industry.
Collections By Rotate
The brand has released a total of 4 collections which are all aimed at bringing opulent yet affordable party and everyday outfits to women.
Their Spring Summer 20 collection plays around with different textures and combines vibrant colours with plain to patterned prints (floral, striped, sequined etc). Many of the outfits in this collection boast an exaggerated detail, from puffy sleeves to ruffles and tiers.

The Pre Spring 20 collection has more mellow colours with chic silhouettes that brings an elegant look into every outfit. This collection brings a combination of dresses, pants and blouses.

In the Fall Winter 19 collection, outfits range from long and short dresses to jumpsuits. The colours here are dark and bold to give each woman a boost of confidence and class.

The first collection, the Pre Fall 19 collection, works with various textiles and prints to create simple yet classy outfits that any woman can rock effortlessly.

What’s to Learn from the Rotate Brand
The Rotate label has proven that anyone can fix a problem they see in their community as a whole by turning their frustration into a solution.
As fashion designers, sometimes it’s not enough to just go with the flow and make your brand like every other brand, sometimes you need to use your brand to bring a solution to problems people face.
