All ready-to-wear and accessories designers who are African whether living in Africa or elsewhere in the world are being presented with an opportunity to showcase their collections in Milan this year.
Vogue Italia’s talent scouting arm, Vogue talents, has opened its doors and is calling for applications from emerging fashion designers hailing from the African continent, for its Scouting For Africa 2020 project.
The Scouting for Africa 2020 project is in collaboration with African Fashion Foundation (AFF) and supported by Impact Funds For African Creatives.
Vogue talent has always supported African fashion designers, one of those designers is our very own Kenneth Ize.
AFF on the other hand is known for promoting African designers by providing them with educational tools they need for capacity building and also creating job and internship opportunities that go beyond the fashion industry.
It is no surprise that these two bodies have collaborated to create a project with African designers in mind. The winner of the Scouting for Africa project will be given a special corner in Pallazo Cussani during Milan Fashion Week in September 2020 to showcase their creations.
How to be a part of it.
Interested designers are to write an application and send to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before 30th of June 2020.
The following materials should be included in the mail:
- images of the latest two collections specifying the relevant season;
- a biography;
- a list of stockists
- Completed application form (PDF) to be downloaded here
This is a positive initiative that designers can take advantage of in the fashion industry.
