We understand that fashion styles are ever-changing, and styles from the ’90s could come back into the fashion scene in the blink of an eye. Some of these styles could be around for a long while, just like the high slit style, sequins fabric, or they could fade away easily.
These styles either creep back into the fashion scene, perhaps due to the influence of celebrities, or the amendments or contemporary updates that have been made to the style. We’re bringing a new series to you; Style of the Moment, where we take an in-depth look at the fashion styles that are rocking the scenes now.
Here are some of the popular styles now, and what we think about them;
Lace/African Wax Print With Corset
Existing since the 19th century, corsets have been worn by both males and females to hold and train the torso into a desired shape. Corsets are used to give the appearance of a smaller waist and larger base. Although they are worn mostly by women, corsets made with African wax print or other fabrics are now a fashion style of the moment as more women are embracing the snatched waist look.
The outfits can be worn to weddings, casual events, and red carpets even. We think that a corset infused outfit is one that highlights the shape of a woman, hence giving that feminine and chic look.
Designing outfits with the same fabric colour but different shades is another style that people, including celebrities, are rocking these days. Ebuka Obi Uchendu recently sported an outfit with different shades of blue, and it made his face pop!
Mixing different shades of colours for an outfit gives a more vital, radiant, and youthful appearance. Outfits like this can be worn for all sorts of occasions, including formal ones, and we think that this style gives a very classy appearance.
In this contemporary fashion age, flowery prints have moved from being worn by ladies and children to an entire fashion statement worn by men also. Although flowery prints tend to have a feminine touch, with the vibrant hues and soft pastel colours, it also adds a touch of style to the outfit.
Ike Onyeama was seen wearing a flowery print jacket with an all-black shirt and trousers to go with the look.
Deconstructed outfits are outfits that have a combination of two or more separate elements to give a unique look, that is, a piece of clothing can be taken apart then put back together to create something different.
A deconstructed jacket, for example, may only have one side of the jacket while the other side is held together by a tie. Depending on the creativity of the fashion designer, deconstructed outfits can be explored at various angles.
Melange Of Fabrics
Many designers have taken to mixing different fabrics to give a complete outfit look, perhaps in a bid to utilize every piece of leftover fabric, to give a unique look.
Fabrics can be mixed with other fabrics, lace, or even sequins to give a unique look. Dresses, jumpsuits, shorts, or even two-pieces can be designed from a melange of fabrics.
Those are some of the styles of the moment that both fashion designers can infuse in their brand to make clients fall in love!
