Looking good, comfortable and confident are some of our goals when we choose styles, both new and old. Our chosen styles make us feel unique and give us a sense of identity even when they are defined by popular trends.
We understand that your style is your distinct signature and for this reason, we’ve put together trending styles from social media this week. Let’s get into them!
It’s the holy month of Ramadan and female Muslim faithfuls around the world have been seen sporting kaftans. The interesting thing about this is these Kaftans are stylishly styled and combined with other accessories like the scarf and footwear.
Kaftans (also called Abayas here) are really stylish and modest and can be made from various materials —from Ankara to cotton, lace and a host of other materials. However, most people tend to favour silk perhaps because of its lush feel.
Monochrome Denim Outfits
Fashion keeps evolving and that is beautiful. Denim can be traced back to the 1700s and it’s exciting to see it evolve. Just a couple of weeks ago, we discussed two-toned jeans and today we are impressed to see the monochrome denim outfits trend.
Jackets, jumpsuits, shirts and other styles are now made from denim and when you try to combine denim of the same colours in a look, the result is fantastic. Like, just look at the picture above.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a synthetic plastic polymer that when processed looks clear. That clear appearance is what makes it a current favourite in the fashion industry. It looks nude unless you take a closer look, so it looks good on whatever you style it with. Various accessories are made from PVC including bags, footwear, and now belts. It is harmless on the skin so it’s a healthy trend.
Crochet wears are becoming quite popular these days. From tops to trousers to accessories and even shoes and sandals. Sweatshirts, however, are very much common and a sizable number of fashionistas were spotted rocking them this week and last.
Interestingly, knitted sweatshirts are no longer loungewear; they can be styled to look really sophisticated and good enough for public events. Knee-high boots, heels and strappy sandals bring out the beauty in this style. Proper accessories like earrings, bags and hair can be used to tone this style up or down.
Corsets are accessories used to sharpen the body. A corset makes the body look snatched and curvy so it is a favoured item in fashion. The obsession for flat stomachs and perfect bodies have increased the demand for corsets and designers keep innovating new ways to style them.
Corsets have been perfectly infused into dresses and tops and now, trousers. Nollywood actress, Bimbo Ademoye is one of the few people that have been spotted in corset trousers. The working of a corset trouser is designed just like a regular trouser but instead of zips and buttons, it has a corset.
