This week was one with many fashion stories that made the headlines, and while some were amazing and spectacular to note, some were just simply hideous. Our Social Media Roundup column is designed to bring you all the hot tea you might have missed on different social media platforms this week.

BBNaija Superhero-Themed Saturday Night Party

The popular reality show, Big Brother Naija which commenced on the 19th of July has featured different Saturday night parties with different themes. The last Saturday Night party was a superhero-themed one, and with different imitations of actual superheroes, the BBNaija Lockdown housemates looked like superheroes in their way.

One of the outfits that stood out for us, and almost everyone that follows the reality show, was the outfit worn by Laycon, a BBNaija housemate and artiste. The outfit, shown above, was probably meant to be an imitation of the popular Marvel character, Deadpool, but instead, the outfit was dead and found in a pool of its blood.

Erica, another housemate in the reality show, dressed up looking similar to the Marvel fictional character, Mystique who is recognised by her shapeshifting, summery body. Erica’s outfit featured a shimmery and shiny jumpsuit, a dark blue cape and gold face mask.

With a shiny little star on a black long-sleeved top and a blue cape, Ozo’s outfit was probably a mix of popular Captain America and Superman. What his superhero name is, however, is what we don’t know.

Yara Shahidi On The Cover Of The Harpers Bazaar Arabia Magazine Issue

Yara Shahidi, the actress which is widely recognised from TV Shows, Black-ish and Grown-ish, graced the covers of the new Harpers Bazaar Arabia magazine issue. In the magazine issue called the Dreamers Issue, Yara Shahidi speaks about her Middle Eastern heritage and culture, the death of a globally acclaimed force, Chadwick Boseman, her passion for instigating change, and many more.

Funsho Install

Funsho Install is a fashion designer and creative who releases eccentric and stylish pieces for both males and females. Outfits in the eponymous fashion brand have been worn by celebrities including Joeboy, Tuface and many more. The brand owner launched a new product this week, which he calls the Dobale Shirt, and it is one that promotes and showcases the heritage of Nigerian culture.

ADR Collection

The ADR collection was released by an ex-BBNaija housemate, Lilo Aderogba, and the collection is becoming quite a hot topic!

The collection features tops that can be worn by males and females, and one thing that makes this collection stand out is the fact that it is made entirely from Adire fabrics. The ready-to-wear tops are available in different sizes and can be worn on different occasions.

John Boyega On The Cover Of British GQ

John Boyega, the British-Nigerian actor popularly known for his role of Finn in Star Wars, graced the covers of the British GQ Magazine for the October issue. In the issue, he addressed and spoke about all the challenges surrounding being a black man, and being a black actor in Hollywood.

Odunsi

Odunsi The Engine, is an alternative new-school artiste in Nigeria, who has quite the taste in fashion. He posted a picture of himself rocking a pair of glasses on his Twitter account and it sparked some comments and reactions from Twitter users.

Lots of people questioned the purpose of the glasses, as one may not be able to see clearly through them. Well, do let us know what you think about Odunsi the Engine’s choice of glasses in the comment section. Is it a yay or nay for you?

Oyinda Akinfenwa

Oyinda Akinfenwa, a Nigerian law student and the creative director of Janore Brand, went viral for creating pieces that can be styled in at least 4 different ways. The uniqueness and creativity of her design process make her outfits stand out amongst others.

She designed an onion-green dress which can be styled as a pleated dress, straight dress and many more.

Black Outfit Trend

To wrap up the social media roundup for this week is the black outfit trend that had Twitter users wildling! A picture thread was started by a Twitter user when he asked followers and mutuals to post their pictures in a black outfit.

There were some good pictures, bad pictures, and pictures that simply should have not left the phone gallery. Nevertheless, it was a trend that almost everyone hopped on!

Those were some of the events and trends that stood out for us on social media this week! Did we miss anyone? Do let us know in the comment section below, and hit the subscribe button as well to get notifications of our posts as soon as they drop!
