Sister and brother, Nigerian fashionistas can slay! Fashion has been around for almost as long as this beautiful green earth has existed and each of us has our unique taste in fashion. This week, we are introducing our new column: Fashion Police where we analyse the best looks from various style influencers in Nigeria.
Last week, we looked at some great corporate looks from some of Naija’s favorite celebrities and we hope your Monday has space for the hotness you are about to see.
Ini Edo’s Burgundy Pant Suit
Dressing up for corporate events should never be boring, and this look says that. Dressed in a strong shade of burgundy that speaks volumes of wealth and power, actress Ini Edo ‘slayed’ with this look. The asymmetric hemline of the suit and leg-of-mutton sleeves give it that extra touch every suit needs.
As is usually appropriate for corporate events, she accessorised the look with minimal jewellery. To match the silver outline of her suit lapel, she sported a silver wristwatch, earrings, and ring. To give the perfect finish to the outfit, this look was styled with a PVC bag and heels.
Omoni Oboli’s Glittery Skirt Suit
Corporate events sometimes ask for a little sparkle and shine to brighten the day. Featuring a suit, accessorised with buttons running down both sides, and a mini skirt, this classic look can go to the office, awards ceremonies and even major conferences.
Since the outfit sits glam on its own, the choice to keep her jewellery to the barest minimum was a great one. With minimal makeup and accessories, actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli did justice to this look.
Denola Grey’s Patterned Ensemble
Looking glamorous at corporate events isn’t reserved for women alone. The content creator and fashion consultant, Denola Grey, served glamour with his black and white ensemble.
Matching pattern with pattern is a turn off for many but this look pairs it very subtly. With a polka dot shirt and a floral patterned pair of trousers, this daring look sits well on him, giving off strong vibes. Pairing the look with leather boots gave it the perfect finish.
Diane Russet’s Midi Corporate Dress
A midi dress for that corporate event? Oh, yeah. This dress sported by media personality, Diane Russet, is the deviation from a regular corporate dress. Featuring bishop sleeves, a high-low peplum and a high neckline.
Paired with a black handbag and black pumps, this look serves as a great office look. Keeping her makeup neutral and sticking to ear and hand jewellery keeps this look very corporate.
Rich Mnisi’s Colour Blocking Look
Designer Rich Mnisi served colour blocking vibes in the right dose with this look. An orange shirt and a pair of trousers in turquoise, this look can go well for award ceremonies or fashion events.
To add a little spice to this, he accessorised the look with a pair of black shoes, a black wristwatch and silver jewellery.
Linda Osifo’s ‘Extra’ Blouse
Matching a simple pair of trousers with a shirt with exaggerated features wakes up an otherwise boring look. In this look, actress Linda Osifo matched a black pair of trousers with a wine office shirt featuring large bishop sleeves.
Keeping the look simple, she kept her accessories at a minimum with a pair of earrings and a wine handbag. This look sits pretty on her, keeping her looking corporate but with something extra. If you want to try out this look to the office though, make sure to wear a longer camisole underneath the blouse.
Chike’s Nude and Black Suit
Going nude for corporate events can also do some magic. In this look, artist Chike paired nude and black to create a simple but cool corporate look.
Matching the nude suit with a black velvet shirt and black pocket square gave the outfit a toned down but professional look. His choice of black shoes also added to the overall corporate look he chose.
Chika Ike’s Pink and Green Match
Pink and green? Not your usual combo, but actress Chika Ike makes it work with this look. Sporting a simple blazer and trouser ensemble, she serves corporate look at its finest with this outfit.
Wearing nothing but earrings, a ring, handbag and shoes by way of accessories, she looks ready for the office. The actress sure got her corporate vibes right.
Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s Red Suit
The style king himself, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu serves serious corporate vibes in red. A very catchy colour, red is for the bold at heart and he did justice to the look.
To tone down the look and keep his colours in check, he paired this look with a black and white polka dot shirt, a black tie and black shoes. The media personality sure looked good in his ensemble.
Dakore Egbuson-Akande’s Corporate Skirt and Blouse
Actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande slew the corporate look with her skirt and blouse ensemble. The black long-sleeved corset top and orange knee-length skirt, featuring a flounce, looks like the perfect workwear.
With her short bob hairstyle, nude pumps, minimal makeup and silver ring, her outfit makes her subtly stand out. The unusual look stands out as one that will go well for any corporate event.
Ini Edi’s burgundy suit and Denola Grey’s daring pattern match did it for us this week and they win the crown in the male and female category. Which look nailed it for you?
