In different ways, fashion designers and entrepreneurs express their creativity and talent to the larger public. Releasing a fashion collection as a fashion entrepreneur is one of the most efficient and expressive ways to do this.

Recently, Deola Sagoe released their Ethereal Collection, and it got everyone all over social media drooling; you can read all about it here.

In the same light, Olive Republic, a Nigerian-based fashion brand released their Resort Collection, and here’s our review.

About The Collection

The resort collection by Olive Republic is one that has a line-up of outfits that can be at the forefront of stylish holiday wears, work wears as well as casual looks. Just like the brand has always done, we noticed that this collection pays very close attention to the everyday fashion needs of a modern woman.

In case you’re not familiar with the brand, Olive Republic is a womenswear fashion brand that consistently churns our stunning ready-to-wear outfits for modern women.

“At Olive Republic, we design clothes that are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. We consider who is likely to wear a garment and the occasions it will be worn to, this is why we pay close attention to detail.” – Odokoro Ifeyinwa Olivia, Creative Director of Olive Republic.

Execution

Like the brand owner shared, this collection was largely inspired by the gloomy mood surrounding this pandemic and she wanted to add a splash of happiness and joy in her own way.

“Fashion is healing for the soul. It is exhilarating. It emits power and shines light to the soul. With everything that has happened – the chaos and pandemic last year – I’ve decided to let this collection bring some light to us.” – Odokoro Ifeyinwa Olivia.

And how did they achieve this?

Through the prints and bright colours, the brand was able to design stunning outfits for their target audience while taking into consideration the styles of the moment.

Target Audience

Considering all the pieces in the collection, this resort collection was targeted at the modern woman – the modern woman who is quite bold and expressive. This collection also boasts a range of pieces that could pass as casual, corporate as well as casual corporate outfits.

“This collection offers prints, luxurious silks, soft cheer chiffons, lush organzas and thick gabardine pieces as well as ostrich feathers.” – Odokoro Ifeyinwa Olivia.

These luxurious fabrics were used to design dresses with cowl necklines, dramatic sleeves and lots more. Two-pieces, jumpsuits as well as crop tops and skirts were also part of the pieces featured in the resort collection.

In our opinion, we think the pieces in this collection embodies the entire wardrobe a modern woman should strive to have. Trendy pieces such as organza, leg-of-mutton sleeve style and many more were also featured in this collection to make it a hit.

The fact that a range of colours as well as trendy fabrics such as the houndstooth was used in this collection, to give off a cheerful and happy feel considering the lingering pandemic, is also commendable.
