Newly created Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) Accelerator programme, has selected six African fashion brands for its premier cohort. Of the selected 6 brands, 1 is Nigerian – the Wuman Brand.
Created for African fashion brands, the EFI Accelerator wants to make its portfolio of startups ready for investment.
As such it targets existing fashion brands in Africa, to help them scale their business enough to compete with their global counterparts.
The startups were selected by a judging panel which included Nigeria’s own celebrity, Dakore Egbuson Akande.
The selected brands include: South African fashion store, Reign; Burndian innovative fashion hub, Margaux Wong; South African Ready to wear label, Mdingi; Dela Su Bere from Burkina Faso.
Others include Kenyan Jiamini; and Nigerian contemporary fashion brand, WUMAN.
As a result of being selected for the accelerator programme, the brands will expand their supply chain and scale up their production, make new products and develop their production team.
The accelerator will also support the brand’s management and production of the prominent designs in their first collection, which will be manufactured through companies in the EFI network – one that has continued to bring fashion brands to world stage since 2013.
Congrats to the successful brands!
