In recent times, the Nigerian fashion industry has grown tremendously. Fashion designers have gone from dressing just Nigerian indigenes to dressing international societies.

Recently, Kulture, the daughter of Grammy-award winning artist Cardi B, was seen rocking a creation by Nigerian fashion brand, Elegante Kids. Elegante Kids, which is the kid’s line of Elegante by Tiannah, created the piece especially for the little girl and even printed her name and face on the back of the outfit.

The blue piece, which looks like a cross-breed between a jacket and a suit, featured a single button, fringes and upturned sleeves.

Nigerian Fashion Brands and International Celebrities

From first ladies to top celebrities in foreign lands, Nigerian fashion designers all over have dressed the creme de la creme of international societies.

Brands like Duro Oluwo and Maki Oh that dressed Michelle Obama, Imad Eduso that dressed Lupita N’yongo, and Deola Sagoe that dressed Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith have taken Nigerian fashion to the world. Through the clout gotten from these major moves by the brands, they have grown to become even more well-known than they were before.

Fashion Brands and Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing in the fashion space is a big deal. Fashion brands, through influencer marketing, have found a way to market their products to their target audience with the help of celebrities that command a similar crowd to theirs.

We all know what endorsement from popular celebrities can do for fashion brands. When a celebrity wears a certain brand and lets their audience know what brand it is, their followers are sure to go check out that brand to see if they could get an outfit or two for themselves.

This is something Nigerian brands can take advantage of to make major sales. In doing this though, it is important to remember that people get bored quickly and so you need to take advantage of the sales when the hype is still high.

Ways to Attract Celebrities to Your Fashion Brand

Attracting local or international celebrities to your fashion brand requires a lot of deliberate actions. There are some major things that fashion brands that have dressed, and are still dressing, celebrities locally and internationally have in common, here they are;

1. A Unique Brand Story

Behind every successful fashion brand is a unique brand story. A fashion brand’s story either attracts customers to or repels them away from the brand.

Your brand story has to connect with your audience to help them create an emotional bond to your brand. Without a story that attracts people to your brand, it will be hard to get celebrities to patronise you.

2. Consistent Quality

Quality is one of the magic words in the fashion industry. No one will want to be associated with a brand that does not dish out quality products.

All of the brands that have steadily attracted celebrities to themselves are big on quality. As a fashion entrepreneur, you need to pay attention to every little detail about your brand products so that when your customers get their products they will have no complaints.

Quality is key.

3. Consistent Content

In life and on social media, consistency is key. Dishing out the right content at the right time consistently on your social media pages is one way to keep your brand at the top of mind of people.

As a fashion brand hoping to style celebrities, you must have enough content they can go through to know they want to be associated with you. This is important.

4. A Defined Niche

No successful fashion entrepreneur services everyone. Therefore, your target market cannot be everyone. You need to create a defined niche that speaks to a specific category of people.

5. Authenticity

In whatever you do always be authentic. No successful fashion brand became great by constantly copying others. People want to see you for who you are and get products from you that are entirely yours.

Being authentic and original in your fashion brand can take you places.
