This year has seen the cancellation or postponement of many fashion shows and events all over the world, and the Met Gala was not left out. The Gala which was scheduled to take place on May 4, was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Met Gala, formerly called the Costume Institue Gala, was established in 1948. It is an annual gala that seeks to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institue in New York City.

Over the years, the Gala has become one of the most prominent and most exclusive social events in the world with each year’s event celebrating the theme of the year’s Costume Institute Exhibit. Guests are usually expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit, and each year the fashion displayed on the Met Gala red carpet becomes more and more glitzy and extravagant.

Due to the indefinite postponement of the Gala, Billy Porter and Vogue America have teamed up to bring the spirit of the Gala right into your home with a new Instagram challenge.
What’s the Challenge About?
The challenge is simple; recreate your favourite red carpet look from a past Met Gala at home. The look you choose and the items you use to replicate it are entirely up to you – but, remember, think outside the box.

Here’s How to Take Part in the Challenge:
The #MetGalaChallenge began yesterday and ends on May 3. To enter, post a photo of yourself in a red carpet look that you have recreated from a past Met Gala on Instagram, using the hashtag #MetGalaChallenge.
The winners of the challenge will be selected by both Billy Porter and Vogue. Once they are chosen, they will be announced on May 4 in a post on Vogue.com, and a selection will also be posted to the official @voguemagazine Instagram page.
Every fashionista is encouraged to take part in this challenge and create amazing looks!
