Whether going for a chic, classy mood or perhaps a dramatic one, different fashion designers know how to express their creativity and talent in terms of collection.

A collection is usually designed to convey a particular mood using different features such as cuts, silhouettes and many more. Notwithstanding, some collections don’t quite hit the mark. Nwosu Official recently released an SS21 Collection tagged ‘Bromance’ and did they nail it? Well, here’s our review of the collection.

About The Bromance SS21 Collection

It’s no news that men in our society today are expected to be strong throughout, perhaps devoid of feelings in fact. And countless times, people have tried to debunk this using different methods.

The Bromance SS21 Collection is one that addresses the issues surrounding masculinity in Nigeria.

“Living in a society where bromance is seen as abnormal, where guys can’t be emotionally attached, hug, cry, confess their love, or feel comfortable talking about their bodies inspired my friend and I, Enioluwa and me to put this collection together.” – Ikechukwu Nwosu Jr

In case you didn’t know, Nwosu Official is a Nigerian ready-to-wear fashion brand that promotes African cultures while also integrating Western cultures. The brand, which is owned by Ikechukwu Nwosu Jr, utilises a range of fabrics such as akwete, damask, organza and many more to create Afrocentric pieces for stylish people who value comfort.

Execution

Channelling a very specific and personal mood to this collection, the creative director of Nwosu Official, Ikechukwu Nwosu Jr partnered with rising brand influencer, Enioluwa Adeoluwa to deliver his collection.

This collaboration was indeed very key as the influencer is one that defies certain takes regarding masculinity.

As Ikechukwu Nwosu Jr shared,

“The choice of colours, fabric and silhouette speaks about love, bond, sincerity, upliftment, support, growth and unity seen among brothers from the same/different mothers.”

The collection also featured a range of popular and trendy styles including side slits, kaftans and many more, and we think this is very important to portray the versatility in men’s fashion.

Target Audience And Pricing

This collection is targeted at the modern man who isn’t afraid to be expressive with colours and tones. This collection covers all angles including modern vibes with the side slit pants, summer shirts and others, to traditional looks with kaftans and many more.

The Bromance collection was indeed designed to be affordable considering the exquisite designs and styles as they range from 5,000 Naira to about 20,000 Naira.

One thing we love about the Bromance collection is how versatile it is – how it portrays the different outfits a modern man can rock depending on the occasion. The Mesh Tunic piece in the collection is one that would typically be frowned upon, but considering the issues around masculinity that the collection is designed to address, we think it is a hit.
