This week, we look at Anjy Luminee Couture, a fashion brand that stands out from the crowd by designing highly creative and unique outfits for its Nigerian clients. Here’s how they were able to achieve that;

How Anjy Luminee Couture started

Anjy Luminee Couture, also called House of Luminee, was founded by Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo in 2013. One who always loved to play around with various fabrics and create something new out of the old, she founded the brand out of her love for fashion designing. With time, it grew to be seen as an illuminator that brightens up its client’s minds and mood. Thus, the name ‘Luminee’.

Very big on promoting the rich indigenous fashion and culture of Nigeria, most of the outfits the brand creates feature at least a touch of Ankara fabric. Over time, the brand has been able to craft a unique space for itself in the Nigerian fashion industry. With bold styles, lots of glitter and signature designs, Anjy Luminee Couture creations can be spotted from a mile away.

The brand works with various fabrics for their outfits but focuses mainly on using fabrics that channel the African heritage like lace and Ankara. Each of their pieces are highly creative and glamorous and often feature unique elements like exaggerated sleeves, skirts, and capes.

Usually, also, no Anjy Luminee Couture piece is left plain. With avant-garde designs glittering embellishments and unexpected additions to their outfits, each one comes out looking unique.  Each well-tailored piece always has something new and unexpected to offer.

With all of its highly imaginative designs, Anjy Luminee Couture has created a unique niche for itself in the Nigerian fashion industry. With this, it has attracted to itself an impressive clientele base including celebrities like Mercy Aigbe, Sola Sobowale, Ini Edo, Adunni Ade, Bobrisky, Tonto Dikeh and Fathia Balogun.

So, how has Anjy Luminee Couture been able to create a unique niche for itself in the Nigerian fashion industry with its signature designs? Let’s take a look at it;

1. Drawing Inspiration from the Nigerian Culture

Nigeria is a land rich in culture and creativity. Right from decades ago, our traditional outfits spoke volumes of creativity and style. So, most of the designs created by the brand draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of its founder.

By mixing cultural designs with modern ones, their pieces exude great appeal for their target audience. Since the African culture embodies creativity, it shines through her designs, making them have a unique look.

2. A Unique Selling Point

Through the years, the brand has stayed true to itself and its unique selling point (USP) with each design. Its creations can be spotted and picked out of the crowd by certain signature designs it has stuck with.

Usually featuring their own unique glitz, its creations give clients a glamorous and stylish look. By infusing its signature cone designs into its skirts and capes, the brand makes its creations recognisable by all. Also, with its extravagant designs and unique embellishments and additions to outfits, the brand had refused to blend in with the crowd in any way.

3. Studying clients

For each bespoke outfit it creates, the brand always makes something to fit the personality of its client. From their bolder looks to the more mellow looks, each client usually comes steps out rocking a look they can pull off with ease.

Also, by understanding the body proportions of clients, the brand always dishes out styles that sit well on them. The exaggerated features of their outfits usually sit well on its wearer.

The Anjy Luminee Couture brand has shown that to stand out in the fashion industry, you need to find your unique selling point (USP). With a USP and lots of consistency, your brand will naturally carve a niche for itself in the industry.
