In the past few months, due to the global coronavirus pandemic, face masks have become one of the most sought after wardrobe items for people all over the world. Many governments have imposed a regulation upon their citizens stating that every individual must wear a face mask while out in public.
This has led to a spike in the increase of cloth face mask production all over the world. Fashion designers have stepped up to bridge the gap by sewing face masks, either for sale or for donations.
However, with the increase in face mask production, people have become increasingly concerned about the efficiency of these masks.
We checked the international CDC requirements for cloth face masks and here’s what we found; face covering should-
- fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face,
- be secured with ties or ear loops
- include multiple layers of fabric,
- allow for breathing without restriction, and
- be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape.
Here are 4 designers that met these requirements;
Opeyemi Ademola, the creative director of Opshe, a fashion brand that specialises in bespoke female garments, ranging from casual wears to party wears and bridal wears, turned to making face masks in this period.
Opshe, popularly known as the ’emergency tailor’ because of their ability to whip up stunning outfits in less than three days, took up making face masks long before Lagos state government adviced people to start wearing masks.
Before delving into the production of face masks, she made sure to read up on requirements for cloth face masks and she abides by them. In addition, she uses light colours inside her masks so clients are reminded to wash their masks regularly.https://www.instagram.com/p/B_h7rqSFXDR/embed/?cr=1&v=12&wp=326&rd=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A8000&rp=%2Fpost%2Fhere-are-4-fashion-brands-producing-ncdc-standard-face-masks-you-can-trust#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A2415.739999996731%2C%22ls%22%3A1851.5199999965262%2C%22le%22%3A1887.4650000070687%7D
Oluwapemi Lawal, the creative director of Adedewe, a clothing brand tha specialises in creating beauty from ashes by turning scraps into beautiful oufits, also started making face masks.
In making their face masks, the Adedewe brand always ensures that they use fabrics like cotton which are tightly knitted to limit the access of the virus. They also provide extra tips for right use of face masks on the packaging of their masks.https://www.instagram.com/p/B_Z9vEPD2eM/embed/?cr=1&v=12&wp=326&rd=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A8000&rp=%2Fpost%2Fhere-are-4-fashion-brands-producing-ncdc-standard-face-masks-you-can-trust#%7B%22ci%22%3A1%2C%22os%22%3A2421.910000004573%2C%22ls%22%3A1851.5199999965262%2C%22le%22%3A1887.4650000070687%7D
Ark Stitches is a fashion brand that was founded by Kenny Sanyaolu and specialises in female bespoke, ready-to-wear and bridal outfits. They also took to helping out in this pandemic by making face masks.
They did their research before going into production and found out the best and most comfortable fabric to use for facemasks. They, like the others, ensure that their masks have multiple layer of fabric while being breathable and friendly too.https://www.instagram.com/p/B_M7qo7F4-B/embed/?cr=1&v=12&wp=326&rd=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A8000&rp=%2Fpost%2Fhere-are-4-fashion-brands-producing-ncdc-standard-face-masks-you-can-trust#%7B%22ci%22%3A2%2C%22os%22%3A2426.900000020396%2C%22ls%22%3A1851.5199999965262%2C%22le%22%3A1887.4650000070687%7D
The creative director of Dreams Culture, Majekodunmi Subomi, also read up to ensure their face masks meet the stipulated requirements. Dreams Culture, which usually specialises in bespoke, ready-to-wear and custom made female outfits also started making face masks to help out.https://www.instagram.com/p/B_ewmNVlt9L/embed/?cr=1&v=12&wp=326&rd=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A8000&rp=%2Fpost%2Fhere-are-4-fashion-brands-producing-ncdc-standard-face-masks-you-can-trust#%7B%22ci%22%3A3%2C%22os%22%3A6067.585000011604%2C%22ls%22%3A1851.5199999965262%2C%22le%22%3A1887.4650000070687%7D
Like those listed above, fashion entrepreneurs should ensure that they keep clients safe by producing CDC compliant face masks.

I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was good.
I do not know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous blogger if you are not already ;
) Cheers!
Now I am ready to do my breakfast, after having
my breakfast coming yet again to read further news.
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was
curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a
blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% positive.
Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
