Kering And Others Partner with Apparel Impact Institute for to make Italian Fashion more Sustainable
Recently, the Apparel Impact Institue (AII) announced a project called ‘The Italy Project’ in partnership with Stella McCartney, Burberry, and French luxury group Kering. The partnership is aimed at improving the environmental footprint of Italy’s luxury fashion supply chain.
“Fashion brands have always been a little quiet and secretive about their supply chains. With this project, Burberry, Stella, and Kering are coming to the table and publicly collaborating across a shared supply chain. It’s really exciting to see that even in the pandemic, these brands were so willing to get behind it,” Lewis Perkins, President of AII, said.
Although all 3 brands have had personal relationships with AII over the years, they realised that coming together could make an even greater impact on the environment.
Starting with around 20 Italian facilities, the project will take place over several months and years. They also intend to collaborate with a local nonprofit organisation to build the long-term program, with the end goal of ‘decarbonising’ the entire Italian supply chain.
