Having a fashion brand is wonderful, but getting customers to purchase your carefully-thought out pieces is a different ball game entirely. This could be a bit tricky especially when your brand does not answer customers’ questions or satisfy them. So what do they want? What are the questions customers ask before purchasing an outfit?

We had a conversation with a few people from different age groups, with different styles and gender, and here’s what they had to say

  1. Timi, a rather spontaneous presenter whose style is somewhere in between the alté 90’s kids fashion and a classy Oxford gentleman has definitely has his fair share of fashion brands’ heartbreak. Overtime, Timi has just learnt to select brands that specialise in his style of fashion. Once challenge he has had, however, is how Nigerian fashion brands tend to have similar designs and pieces. This discourages him a great deals and he hopes they begin to have some form of distinction.
  2. Zainab, a young adult whose fashion style is simple, with a dash of crazy had this to say. “Nigerian fashion brands simply put out styles or designs for people with ideal or perfect body shapes, not taking into consideration some irregularities in size, shape or symmetry”. She has had the problem of choosing outfits that would highlight  her wide shoulders, without focusing on her slim base, hence making her look very skinny. All she suggests is for fashion brands to be more inclusive, putting out outfits that would cover the need of every and any person.
  3. Nosa, a working-class fashion enthusiast who loves outfits that make statements and are quite bold. Classy outfits are his go-to option any day, any time. One challenge he has had though, is how pricey these pieces are. So, considering the pockets of your target customer would be a good thing to look into as a brand owner.
  4. Speaking on affordable clothing too, Gbenga, a young graduate who likes going out of the norm regarding his fashion choices, talking about unpredictable outfits with great similarities to the alternative fashion, shared a few things with us. “Finding nice, affordable clothing items from fashion brands here could sometimes be an Herculean task, and it’s honestly tiring”, he said. So alternative fashion brands should definitely put out their pieces more, as well as consider the price range of the said pieces.Kenneth Ize Debut Collection

So, there you have it, these are some of the challenges and worries that customers face.
