Sometimes, creative energy flowing through your veins can leave you exhausted. However, its creative results will definitely stir you up and strengthen you. This creativity is an essential part of fashion.

We are excited today to talk about creativity in one of its purest forms, Fruche’s ‘Ìbejì’ collection. It contains beautiful works of art birthed by history and rich cultural knowledge. Let’s get to it.

About The Fruche Brand

Fruche is a womenswear brand aimed at telling stories and making revolutionary changes through its art. It is an eponymous brand as its name, Fruche, is a fusion of Frank and Uche, the names of its creative director, Frank Aghuno.

Frank started the Fruche brand in 2014 in the heat of a strike action undertaken by the University of Lagos. His cousin taught him how to operate a sewing machine and made his first collection with #5000 with it.

After the creative process, his younger sister and a classmate modeled for him and he pictures and put them on social media. Bella naija spotted him and that gave his brand publicity.

The brand aims to change the narrative of stereotypical fashion ideologies with its rich cultural background and stylish modern innovations. It is passionate about making people comfortable in their skin and sensuality.

About The ‘Ìbejì’ Collection

Frank himself is a twin and he got help from his twin brother Dricky for the creative set-up of the background of the collection shoot. The collection was created as a tribute to the Ladiju sisters, renowned musicians back in the mid-1960s to the 1980s. Together, they were relentless about preaching positivity and speaking up against injustice and oppression through their music in Nigeria, Europe and the US.

The collection had 17 dresses in it. Each dress, a perfect blend of culture and modernism, all well-crafted designs with drapes or statement sleeves, bold and spirited. They were made from Aso-oke, silk, cotton and patterned fabrics.

It is a brilliant and stunning array of high slits, drapes, statement sleeves and cuts. The cuts of most garments in the collection are flirtatious as they teasingly exposed parts of the tummy, chest, and thigh, highlighting the model’s legs.

The most outstanding piece in this collection is the sleeveless Aso-oke dress. A simple yet elegant short dress made from green and lilac aso-oke. It flawlessly brings out the beauty of the aso-oke material.

Target Audience

This collection is for every woman comfortable and bold enough to make a statement with her outfits. The whole idea of this collection is to inspire women to be bold, strong and outspoken, with their fashion and voices like the Ladiju sisters.

Collection Impact

This collection empowers women and all humans to be bold and outspoken against injustice and ills. We can say that it pushes for change and a revolution against negative actions and ideologies.
