The founder and CEO of the Africa Fashion Week London, Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, has released an official statement updating the general public on the status of the Africa Fashion Week London 2020 that is supposed to hold on 7-8 August, 2020.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, she shared that the date of the Africa Fashion Week London may have to be reviewed. A final decision will be made after 30 days of the statement, that is, in mid-April to announce either the postponement of the show, or if it will be going forward.

The Africa Fashion Week London is a globally recognized event that showcases emerging and aspiring designers from different continents, most especially Africa. Since it’s inception in 2011, the Africa Fashion Week London has showcased over 900 designers to an audience of over 70,000.

The designers all come from different parts of the world, each continent well represented and there have been over 30 African fashion designers at the show.

The show has been able to communicate Africa’s rich culture through the different designers that showcase different products, ranging from clothes to shoes to hats, even jewellry.

Essentially, the African Fashion Week London has brought travellers from Europe and other parts of the world to appreciate the rich African culture. Diane Carlton, Shoes by Gugu Mobile Boutique, Becca Apparel were some of the designers that showcased during the Africa Fashion Week London 2019.

That gives a picture of how beneficial the Africa Fashion Week London is to the African fashion society.

But, it’s no news that the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has crippled the activities of many spheres of the world, since its outbreak in Wuhan, China.

Many fashion shows have had to be cancelled, even before the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus disease a pandemic. The Shangai Fashion Week, India Fashion Week, amongst many others have been cancelled due to the spread of the virus.

Many governments have advised citisens to stay safe and avoid unnecesary public interactions to reduce drastically the spread of the coronavirus disease.
